Learning To Shine

When you are living your strengths, then you can truly shine!

Wouldn’t it be great to look forward to getting up and going to work every day?  Well, this is the exact feeling you would have if you are using your strengths at work.  You see, one of the hallmark features of strengths is that using them energises and inspires you, but also elevates those around you.  So it makes sense that research shows that the people using their strengths at work are most likely the ones who are
smiling.  Quite simply, using your strengths makes you happy!

So, the key step in being happy at work is knowing what your strengths are, and then selecting the work, or modifying it where possible to utilise your strengths.

The purpose of this page is to provide a summary of the blog posts, tools and techniques to help you identify exactly what your strengths are, and how to go about using them in the workplace.  When you are coming from a position of strength you will shine and be happy!

Strengths – The Key To Happiness  – www.howtobehappyatwork.wordpress.com/2011/07/04/strengths-the-key-to-happiness/

In this post I discuss the link between using your strengths and happiness at work.  I also propose 2 ways to begin identifying your strengths:

  1. Stop and Feel – for 1 week keep a note of things that you did that made you feel energised and uplifted.
  2. Take a Strengths Questionnaire – for example the VIA Survey of Character Strengths http://www.viacharacter.org/SURVEYS.aspx
